what happens to what you tell us
Before you tell anyone how you really are, you want to know where it goes. Most of us learned that the hard way, at least once. So here is the whole answer, before we ask you anything.
Here are seven promises. Each one describes how Framed Minds is built today. We check each one against the code before this page changes. Where a promise has a limit, the limit is written right next to it.
One honest thing first: Framed Minds is a way of noticing, built from practice. It is not a clinical test. It is not a diagnosis, and it is not therapy.
1. what we keep, and what we don’t
- The Glimpse (no account needed): your answers stay in your browser. They reach us only if you ask us to email you what you saw, or if you carry them into an account. If you ask for the email, we keep your email address and the Frame your answers leaned toward for up to 12 months, and we never use them for ads.
- A round of Frame Spotting asks nothing about you. It is about the people in the scenes.
- The Self-Inventory: we keep your answers, because Echo needs them to write your report. They stay in your account until you delete them.
- Echo conversations, Reflections and check-ins are kept in your account so you can come back to them. You can download or delete them.
- We ask first. Before we first keep what you share with Echo, in a Self-Inventory, in Inner Cartography, in Frame Mirror or in Bridges, we ask, in plain words, separately from any email list. Your journal, Daily Compass check-ins and course worksheets are kept in your account without that question. You can download or delete them any time.
- Small counts we keep: how many people reach each step (a page, a first question, an account) on each day. No name, no account and no IP address is attached. If we ask whether a Frame’s name fits, we keep your answer and any words you type, but never who you are. To stop repeat answers, we keep a scrambled code for 24 hours, and then it is gone. Typed words are deleted after 180 days.
2. who sees what
- Other members never see your answers, your scores or your reports.
- A Frame Mirror shows you how friends and family see you. You see it only once at least three of them have answered (four for a team at work), and it never shows who said what. If you ask one named person, you see their answers as theirs, and they are told that before they answer.
- A Bridge happens only when your friend says yes, and shows only what you both agreed to.
- A team sees your display name and the two Frames most active for you right now, and only after you say yes. A team never sees your scores, your answers or anything you write.
- At a Frame Table, your tablemates see your first name and the Frame leading for you. Your answers and reports are never shown.
- The AI services that write your reports and Echo’s replies process what you write for us. They may not use it to train their models, or for any purpose of their own. The list is in our Privacy Policy.
- Our small team can reach your Echo conversations and results, and may read them, only to support you, keep the platform safe and check its quality. We say so plainly in section 7 of the Privacy Policy, because you should know before you write.
3. no ad tracking where you answer
No Meta, TikTok or other advertising pixel, and no Google Analytics, runs on any page that asks you about yourself. That means the Glimpse, Frame Spotting, the Self-Inventory, Echo, Frame Mirror, Bridges, the Daily Compass, Reflections, courses and your Dashboard.
Once you are signed in, Echo is on every page. So the pixel stays off everywhere for you, with one exception: the checkout page itself. That page asks only for your name, email, payment details and age. Our servers never send anything you answer to an advertiser, either.
On our public pages, you can turn the pixel off in Cookie Preferences, at the bottom of every page. In Europe it stays off unless you allow it. A browser that sends Global Privacy Control never gets it.
4. we never sell your answers
Your answers are never sold and never used for advertising. They are shared only in the ways listed on this page: with the AI services that work for us, with a friend or a team when you say yes, and when the law requires it.
5. echo is an ai, and says so
Echo is an AI. It is not a person, not a therapist and not an emergency service. Every Echo window says so, all the time. Echo also reminds you when a conversation starts, and at least every three hours. If you tell Echo you are not safe, it answers the same way every time, with people who can help right now: 988 in the US (call or text), findahelpline.com anywhere else, and your local emergency number. Read exactly what Echo does. Framed Minds accounts are for people 18 and over.
6. leaving is yours, and never a conversation
- Cancel a paid membership from your account page, with no call and no email. Navigator stays open until the end of the time you paid for. Then you carry on as an Explorer, for free.
- Download everything we keep about you from Privacy settings.
- Delete your account from your settings: a button, a box to check and a confirmation. Your Echo conversations, Self-Inventory answers and reports, Reflections, worksheets, check-ins and the rest go with it. We keep only what the law makes us keep, such as payment records.
